Join us for a breakfast discussion with Bank of America’s Analysts Ralf Preusser (MD, Global Head of G10 Rates & FX Strategy) and Ruben Segura-Cayuela (MD, Head of Europe Economics Research).

With the Middle East unresolved energy prices remain high and volatile, this adds uncertainty to the global economic and markets outlook and risks are underpriced. While the shock is still smaller than we thought a few weeks ago, it is still a sizeable shock that will lead to less growth and more inflation. The US is likely to remain resilient and inflation there sticky, leading to several Fed hikes this year. For the ECB one final rate hike in September remains likely, but the focus will eventually shift toward the need for rate cuts in 2027 as inflation eases. Meanwhile, the Bank of England is likely to stay on hold. Lower energy prices have reduced the need for further tightening, though we doubt we can see cuts anytime soon.
